Delhi Metro Is Extending Its High Speed Express Line To Dwarka Sec 25.
The underground stretch by DMRC will soon commence from the present New Delhi metro station to Dwarka to Dwarka Sector 25 and link it with the upcoming exhibition cum convention centre (ECC). This is a great piece of news for the daily commuters as well as for those who travel out frequently. A total of 36 coaches will be constructed. Therefore DMRC has floated tenders to procure these high speed coaches. Six extra trains will be constructed for the high-speed corridor. The trains would have a top speed of 132 kmph and will be of standard gauge. Since the new coaches are different from the usual coaches, DMRC wont be able to use them from its existing network for the Airport Express Line. DMRC had invited open e-tenders from agencies on international competitive bidding basis for design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning and training of 36 standard gauge cars for Airport Metro Express project. The Airport Express Line extension is 1.7 km from Dwarka Sector 21 station. An underground station is planned inside the ECC complex with its connectivity to the convention centre through subways. Work on extending the Airport Express will cost around Rs 310 crore. The detailed project report for the proposed extension has been approved by the government At present, the high-speed Airport Express Line connects New Delhi station to Dwarka Sector 21 station, with four stations in between — Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aerocity and IGI Airport (Terminal 3). The underground ECC station will be connected to the line through a tunnel, which will be constructed through the cut and cover method. DMRC expects to complete the project within a span of two-and-a-half-years.
